My old headset (kraken 7.1) just broke and i am trying to find good headphones. I am using my motherboards soundcard. I play lots of csgo so positional audio is important. My budget is around 100e

Solution

no you don't.
a 7.1 headset like the Kraken you own, uses it's own soundcard, that's why it has a USB connector.

what's your budget mate?

Around 100e

when it comes to 7.1 gaming headsets with built-in soundcards, there's almost no way past the Logitech G35
but it has some stability issues and the frame breaks easily

SteelSeries headsets are pretty unbreakable and deliver good gaming sounds, however their music quality could be better and could use a week or two to get used to

I personally use a Roccat Kave XTD 5.1 analogue (this actually uses your computer's soundcard, but there is a digital USB version as well) and it's pretty solid all around, only this built-in remote is kind of....I don't like it but it works great.
there's a digital 7.1 version as well.

Do you know any good headphones which could be paired up with modmic

well they all come with a Mic already
if you wanna use modmic, then just go with headphones yes
if you don't need 7.1 sound, go with the best Sennheisers you can afford.

I would say get the Senhisser hd 598 with the mod mic. I used them for years and just recently upgraded to the hd700's some people dont care for the 700's but I think they are fantastic. You can always spend more and go higher. I personally believe the hd 598 or 598se are the best sounding headphones for the money. I also think any ""gaming head sets"" sound significantly worse per dollar.
