Hey there again, @Yash hira!

The drive could still be spinning and working but that doesn't mean that it's healthy. This basically puts everything you store on that HDD in danger, meaning you might suffer the consequences of data loss. :( Moreover, you mentioned that the HDD is making some weird noises due to the head not working properly. This could be indicating internal hardware failure which could still mean that the drive has failed and you won't be able to trust any data with it, due to the fact that it might completely die at any time.

Let me know if you have more questions or concerns.

Hey there, @Yash hira!

I'd advise you to go to BIOS and try resolving the issue by resetting it from the settings. The procedure will get your settings back to factory defaults, so you will need to re-configure the manual changes you have made so far. Another thing you should try is the HDD in another computer to see how it will get recognized there. This is the surest way to determine whether or not it is the source of the issue.
You should definitely check the SATA connector and make sure you have plugged the drive properly inside your laptop's HDD caddy. You could also try using the Windows Repair Options from the Windows installation dvd and try to format & partition the drive using the Command Prompt's DiskPart.

Hope it works. Keep me posted if you face more issues.

What to do?

Hey there again, @Yash hira!

Please, since you detect that there might be a hardware damage on the HDD (physical corruption), you should definitely get in touch with the laptop manufacturer's customer support. if it's still within the warranty period, you should be able to RMA it and get a replacement hard drive and a free repair from them. Otherwise, you will definitely need to replace the HDD from your laptop with a new one. It does sound like yours might have failed. If the laptop is not covered by the warranty anymore, you could try un-mounting the drive from it and plugging it into another computer to see how it will get recognized there. You might as well try testing it using its brand-specific diagnostic utility to check up on the health and SMART status.

Good luck! Let me know how it goes.

Hey there again, @Yash hira!

You can definitely use the HDD as an external drive. Since it's a mobile (2.5") laptop drive, you can use a USB-powered enclosure/docking station or a SATA-to-USB cable. However, if the HDD has failed, I'd definitely not trust any data with it, regardless if it's used as an external or internal one. It might fail either way. There are countless enclosure models you can find through Google and online resellers. Here's an interesting storage review from our community, you might find useful.

Best of luck! Hope I was helpful! :)
