Hello,

I am putting together my first PC build. I installed the graphics card (zotac gtx 1070 amp extreme) and went online during both tries to the Nvidia and Zotac websites to download the driver for the card.

Unfortunately the GE Force says that installation cannot continue because the graphics card is not Compatible with my Windows version. On have Windows 10 so I don't understand where is this coming from.

I dont know where the problem is coming from. Dxdiag.exe reads the 8gbs of the card although it weirdly named it "Microsoft Basic Display Adaptor."

Do you think that the graphics card is up to date from the box and that is why it doesnt install the driver?

I would really appreciate your help as I am lost at this point.

Solution

If you don't have all the necessary Win updates installed yet, that may be the issue. There are certain .NET Frameworks that need to be present for drivers to install properly. Get as many updates installed as you can first. In fact, the gfx driver will probably be among them.

No it isn't. I have it connected to the GPU HDMI outlet. How would that affect it though? I currently downloading Microsoft Office. Do you think if it change it to the integrated graphics outlet it should work? Do I update the bios and then change the HDMI back to the GPU?

Thank you for the reply!

I just wanted to be sure you didn't forget to move the monitor's video cable from the integrated port to the card's port. When you see the "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" message, it usually means the system is using the iGPU... or (if connected properly) that the default driver is all that is installed.

Did you download and install the Win10 driver for the card? http://www.geforce.com/drivers

"Microsoft basic displayer adapter" is what I am actually seeing when I enter into the device manager. I tried ti update the driver for the GPU but it does not work. What are your recommendations? I'm currently underdoing Windows updates. Do you think that there will be a better chance fixing the problem once the updates are done?

My Windows is 64 bit. Are you referring to the GPU driver or Windows in general?

Make sure the Nvidia drivers are also 64 bit.

Btw, I have a GTX 1070 installed on 64 bit Windows 10. Oh, and don't install the drivers on the disk given with the card. Just go to the Nvidia website and download the most current ones there.
