My budget is around £250-£350 (I'm from the UK) and I've been looking at the GTX 970 and the GTX 1060, as the 1070 is out of my budget. I've also looked at the AMD RX480 but it is supposedly worse and uses more power for what it does (i don't really understand AMD sorry). Could you suggest a graphics card and also tell me which is better for gaming at higher settings out of the 970 and 1060.

Thanks.

if you have your heart set on nvidia then the gtx 1060 is the better card than the 970 because it has marginally better performance and significantly less power draw for a similar price. The rx 480, however, is not a bad card, not by a long shot and although it performs worse than the 1060 in most dx11 titles it wins easily when it comes to dx12 and vulkan titles. The 480 is also cheaper than the 1060 and has the option of using two in crossfire if you need an upgrade later down the road. Personally, the extra power draw doesn't bother me and cheaper price of the rx 480 makes it the clear choice in my mind.

Your build looks pretty solid. The only thing I'll say is that for a cpu as nice as the 6600k i'd personally splurge and get a 1070 to make use of all that horsepower but I understand your on budget. Overall it will be a great 1080p gaming rig!

cheers man
