- the rx 480 peforms better than the gtx 970 and same price so why not?
- switched the pwoersupply out for the bet quality which was about the same price.

Solution
I agree opting for the 480 is a better option, the vram shortcoming of the 970 just doesnt seem acceptable anymore in that price range with all the newer cards out.

But If Nvidia is a must I gotta tell you to aim for the 1060 as the reviews all show it's worth the 50 dollars over the 970

Ditch the HDD until later when you have more money and settle for 8GB or RAM for the time being, there are no games that require more than 8GB at the moment.
