So about a week ago when i had awoken from my sleep i decided to turn on my pc to find out that it wouldn't display anything. i blew out the pcie slot that was holding my GTX 960 with some compressed air and it worked after that but then it decides to happen again a couple days later so i grab my older card (gtx 550) and decide to put it in and it works with that card and then once i put my GTX 960 back in it decides to work again. BUT it happens again after that day and i did the same thing, i put the 550 in but this time it did not work with the 550 or 960. so then i decide to put the 550 into the OTHER pcie slot and it doesnt work but when i put my gtx 960 in that pcie slot it works by luck i guess. It has NOT happened since i put it into the second pcie slot BUT NOW in some games my frames are dropping horribly. Could it be that the gpu is dying? or that the pcie slots are dying? or something else? IM COMPLETELY CONFUSED :(
PS - ive reset cmos, updated drivers all that already.

SPECS
MOBO - M5A97
GPU - GTX 960
CPU - AMD FX 8320 @3.7
PSU - EVGA 600B
HDD - 2tb WD BLACK

Solution

In that case it's still likely motherboard failure. If you have another computer you can test the 960 in then you can make sure.
