i install win 10,I was able to get 500 GB capacity with my previous OS, which was Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I'm doing a clean install of Windows 10 Professional 64 bit.

AND I can get the full capacity to show up, only when I fully format the HDD, then leave the computer on forever or warm boot it. But once I do a cold boot, then the partitions go away, and I'm left with 300 Gb of unallocated space.

Hi there yogita_1,

There could be something wrong with the drive.
Just back up the data stored on it and test it with some of these: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
It would be nice if you can post a screenshot of the SMART report.

You can even attach the drive with different cables to another SATA port, so you can rule out a possible connection related cause of the issue.

HDD not having its full size under BIOS, could indicate some mechanical flaw.

Let me know how this goes,
