Slow program installation on HDD (WD 1TB 7200 rpm,Windows10 64bit)

Hi,

I'm currently installing a game with 50 GB , it's almost an hour (+/- 15min) and it's still around 80%. My previous computer was that slow,but this new computer should be way faster,shouldn't be? ( ASUS Z170 mobo,i7 6700k ,16GB 3000Mhz Ram)

Hi there BladePocok,

Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive :(

I believe it would be nice not to keep important data stored on the drive, as you think that there might be something wrong with it.

After that, you can just check it's health status out. You can do so, if you just run both short and extended DLG tests on it: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=dCQz4i

Swapping cables(SATA and power ones) and ports will not hurt as well.

The older computer may well have been slower but the hard drive, unless you changed from a mechanical to a SSD is likely about the same in terms of speed.

If you are concerned then worth downloading HD Tune and cheeking SMART attributes to see if it has any issues.

As I mentioned,I bought this rig as fresh new about a week ago. I have a SSD for crucial system files and most used programs/games and the rest are on the HDD (as mentioned it's a wd caviar blue 1tb 7200 rpm). I'll check this,if there is any problem,but it's still weird that an installation of 50GB is so slow.
