Windows using high memory cache and high amounts of page faults

My resource monitor is displaying about 3GB of RAM being used all the time and 1.7GB cached currently, this number (1.9GB after typing that) keeps rising from startup. System also displays hundreds of hard faults/second which I disabled but didn't sort out the problem of high memory usage. I've read plenty of other's problems regarding memory leaks and hard faults however I have found nothing relating to my specific problem. MsMpEng.exe seems to be a program that is using high amounts of memory and causing a lot of hard faults. This problem is drastically slowing down my computer. This started occurring after I overclocked my GPU I think.

If that one exe is the only thing with high hdd usage then that should be the cause. I've been having some more usage with the antimalware as well. There was an update to it and I guess it's more strict now and scans more. It doesn't slow down my pc but I have to disable real time protection so some things will even run without taking several minutes to start. You can try to turn it off to see if that's it. Start, settings, update & security, windows defender, turn off real time protection.
Ram being cached is not the same as ram being used. You want windows to cache to start most used programs faster from ram rather than waiting for the hdd. Any unused ram is just wasted space but windows will set a couple hundred MB free.

That exe deals with antimalware and is scanning whatever you are running. This usually only happens for less common software so what is it that you are running when the usage goes up? If you think it's oc related then go back to stock.
