So I am building my first gaming rig to finally make the jump into PC gaming. The CPU I picked out for my build is an Intel Core i5 6500 3.2Ghz. I do NOT plan on overclocking as this is not a "K" processor and my motherboard won't support it.
I was told it was not required to have a CPU cooler in this case, but is that true? And if it is, should I still buy a relatively cheap cooler just to be safe?

EDIT: Heres my part list if thats any help. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/VYkk6X

It should be unless you live in an exceptionally hot environment with no air conditioning and the ambient temperature is getting up to like 35 to 40+ celsius. At that point, the stock cooler can start to struggle to keep the CPU cool under heavy load. If you don't live in such an environment, you don't need an aftermarket cooler unless you want quieter operation.

I do plan on using this for quite heavy gaming, however. Maybe a bit of streaming or recording. Will it still be okay?

doesnt matter how hard you game the stock cooler is made to handle that processor.
it can handles basic streaming(league csgo) however for anything mroe you want an i7 , due the hyperthreading feature (yes the i7 6700 comes with a stock cooler too).

Alright, in my state it gets around 80-90F in the summer, but winters can get really cold I have AC in my household, so I should be fine. Thanks!
