As subject, they stopped working after the latest update.

The asus driver install won't work anymore (the setup.exe doesn't start) and force installing the drivers result in a blue screen (arggh).

Asmedia usb3.1 XHC drivers are now a generic Microsoft 1.10.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Please open the Start Menu, type in CMD, press Enter. Command Prompt opens. Type in SET DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1 and press Enter. Type exit and press Enter. Command Prompt closes.

Next, open Device Manager, drop down the View menu, select Show Hidden Devices. Now, open the USB category and post a screenshot of the contents.

Once I figure out which device is the problem, I will respond with more troubleshooting steps.

Hi,

thank you very much for your answer, that was pretty quick. Unluckily I have been busy this week and I couldn't reply as fast. Very impressed by your kindness.

This is the image you are looking for:

Please disconnect from the internet to prevent automatic driver downloads, and uninstall drivers for the device named "ASMedia USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.10 (Microsoft)".

Restart and uninstall the grayed out device named "USB Root Hub (xHCI)". If it becomes black and is no longer grayed out after the restart, then skip this step. If this step was performed, restart again.

Now insert the Asus install media (or find the install file in local storage) and attempt to install drivers. Restart when complete.

Please reply with results.

Didn't work. I followed the steps without problems, but eventually the driver installer still didn't start and forcing the driver installation broke windows this time. I had to restore a previous restore point.

I wonder if I should install windows again

eventually I decided to reset windows, which fixed it. However windows 10 home scaries me a bit, every time I install it , it looks different. This time I even found flash, which I don't believe was present in my original installation -_-
