I recently came across some ad online for an Asus router. It was nearly $400. I saw the promises it made on its website. But honestly, I am not into networking and I did not understand much of it. I currently use a TP-Link N150 or something which my ISP ripped me off for double the price (perhaps because I bought it on 1st April...).

My usage is fairly high. I play lots of game on PC, demanding games like CSGO, TC R6, GTA V and much more. I youtube alot and upload too. I am running a 2Mbps connection, which, for my area is decent, I do once in a while get the 6mbps package for some extra fun, like streaming etc too. I am connected to the router via RJ standard cable, dont know what model it is. Networking is not my thing.

I also have at any time maybe 1 wifi device connected to my router. Which definitely eats bandwidth and increases latency in my games online.

Would it be worth getting a router above $100 for me?
Just curious to know how much of a difference would it make...

Sounds like you have a dsl connection. The tplink router you currently have may be just as good as something newer. If you had a very fast connection then the router might be slowing you down but when you only have a 6m package even very old routers can support that.

You first step is to try to always play your games on a wired connection. You should have enough bandwidth to play most games if you are careful. You do not want other things like downloads or music or video streams running at the same time. You need to avoid using other devices when you only have 2m. A game does not need a lot...most are well under 1m..but even simple web pages loading can eat a lot for short periods of time.

It would better money spent to run...

I suspect you main problem is you do not have enough bandwidth from the ISP. A different router will not solve that problem. Used to be 6m was a fast connection now netflix has 4k movies that can eat a 20m connection.

no need to change your router. save your money, specially since the PC where you have the highest usage in on the Ethernet cable anyways.
those expensive routers are worth when you have many users in one place specially wireless ones and need to provide an good network with a lot of shared devices etc...
