Should I upgrade from my Core i5 to an i7?

I've got a PC I built in 2012 or 2013 I think. I recently replaced the video card and a bunch of other stuff, but I'm still running the Core i5 3570k processor from 3-4 years ago.

Now that I've upgraded some of the other stuff, I'm kind of warming to the idea of replacing the processor and motherboard too just so everything's fresh and new. (I suppose RAM too, I'd need something faster.)

I've got some extra money. Would it be worth picking up a core i7 6700k and a good motherboard? It's not bad now but I'd like of like something a little more modern.

If you have extra money you want to spend on the PC, I would suggest to save it or upgrade to an IPS monitor (if you don't have one yet) instead of going from i5 to i7 (just overclock the i5 if you did not do that already).

Annnd now I remember that the USB 3.0 header on the motherboard for the front connectors is busted and I've got some other flakiness.

I might just go ahead and upgrade.

What's a good Z170 motherboard? Was kind of looking at the Asrock Z170 Extreme 6.
