Hi All,

I am in progress slowly upgrading my pc after 7 years, my goal is to assemble the best bang for buck pc which is ready for VR.

After countless of hours googling and reading i have today the following setup:
Board: ASROCK H110M-DGS
CPU: i5-6500
Memory: 2 DDR4x 4gb (2133)
Hard Drive: 500GB Sata
Card: Geforce GTX 650 TI (1GB)
Power Supply: ATX-500W PSU Details

Last month i bought the Board,CPU,Memory and am now at the stage of hoping to add a graphic card.

#1 First issue i encountered:
While plugging the board to the PSU, the PSU only has a 1x4 pin instead of a 8 pin. Google provided me a solution to just plug it in and it shall work. Which it does now for a over a month. (This might be relevant later)

Looking at the prices where i am for video cards i can obtain the :
Rx480 for $362
GTX 1060 Strix OC - $413

Looking into the connection option's the RX480 needs a 6-pin Connector while the GTX 1060 needs a 8-pin. I read on the forums that it is risky to use only the 6-pin / a molex converter?

So if i were to choose the 1060 i would need to upgrade my PSU asswell?

My second option is to go for the RX480 which needs only a 6-pin feed which my current PSU has, Would it have any impact on the 4-pins connected at the moment to the Board?

What would you recommend my next steps would be?

Thank you! and with kind regards,

Solution
The XFX seems to be better than Corsair's VS series. 550 watts will run your system just fine. You will need a larger PSU for safe overclocking (I'd go 650 watts) and Crossfire (750 watts)
Don't trust generic no-name power supplies. Very sketchy and could go poorly for your components. 500 watts is enough to run either. Do not use a molex to 6 pin connector. You'll thank me later. There are 6 pin to 8 pin adapters but I still do not advise doing that. For about $50 less, go for the 480. They are so close that it's good to go with the cheaper option if on a budget. Or even not on a budget. And we really should have an 8 pin connector for that CPU.

Thank you both for your answers which made the choise easy to go for the Rx 480 and a new psu.
Looking into the future i can see myself buying a second Rx480 to go crossfire, however will start off now with one.
Which means i also need a PSU which can feed both cards.

Started searching for the known PSU brand name Corsair as it seemed the most popular here (Poland). And came out with two potential candidates:
The prices are identical, Am i right to choose the Corsair VS650 650W 80+?
Corsair VS550 550W 80+
and
Corsair VS650 650W 80+

Thank you again for the support!

Edit--
Seems the Corsair VS series is not of good quality, The ATX XFX Core TS Series 550W Seems to be recommended a lot and in the same price class, Seems i have a winner psu?
