usb port does not work any more

Hi,
I have an HP Laptop..i have 3 usb ports , one on the right side and two on the left side.....my problem is that when i connected my flash memory it works on the left one only and the rest do not make even a sound...what can cause that ?!..... also when i connected my phone this massage appeared"usb not recognized"
can any one help me ?

go to hp driver page for your laptop see if there usb drivers or chipset drivers. if there only chipset drivers look online for the newest intel or amd for the laptop and reinstall it. if the driver is damaged port may not work right. also with a led flashlight look to see if any of the usb pins are broken or bent.

i do not think they are broken cause when i plugged my phone it starts charging only

Well try this :
Go to the device manager and you will see something like USB controller .
If there are no error marks(a yellow triangle with ! mark) then there is no hardware fault(chipset) and all you have to do is reinstall the drivers of the USB controller.
If that does not resolve it then try disabling the USB controller from the device manager and then re-enabling it after a few mins.

when i went to the device manger i clicked on "universal serial bus controller" i found the following a yellow triangle with ! saying
unknown usb device (device descriptor request failed) and the problem description was "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) "
i uninstalled them and restart the laptop but it`s noting fixed

Okay the yellow triangle indicates a hardware related problem. Try disabling the USB controller from device manager and then re enabling it after a minute or so.
If the yellow triangle still appears then you better claim your laptop warranty if any or get it serviced from an authorised agent.
