I am buying 8gb of ram for my computer, and I am not sure what type to buy.
This is currently what I am planning on buying Crucial 8GB Single DDR3L 1600 MT/s (PC3L-12800) Unbuffered UDIMM Memory CT102464BD160B

Can someone let me know if that will work?

Guessing this is what you have Gateway DX4860-UB32P. If so any ram you buy over 1333mhz will be down clocked to 1333mhz. If your trying to add 8gb to what you already have i would highly recommend against it. Buy a full new kit ether a 4x4gb or a 2x8gb kit, if your just wanting 8gb get a 2x4gb kit. Running in dual channel is better then single channel mode.

Thanks, but I probably should of specified that I have a Gateway DX4860-UR14P, I'm not sure if that makes a difference though.

ok so spec wise it still uses 1333mhz ram, but you have 4 slots with a max of 16gb of ram. So your going to have to buy a 4x4gb kit to get 16gb, it might take an 8gb stick but could be very unstable. Being that its a gateway you wont be able to tweak any settings so i would stick with a 4x4gb kit.

if this is what you have

Gateway DX4860-UR14P - Core i5 3450 3.1 GHz - 6 GB - 1 TB Specifications

RAM
Installed Size 6 GB / 8 GB (max)
Memory Speed 1333 MHz
Memory Specification Compliance PC3-10600
Technology DDR3 SDRAM
Installed Size 6 GB

not sure if going from 6 GB to 8 GB is worth the hassle or the money.

hmmm i see you got your specs from cnet but newegg says its 4 slots 16gb max which would need a 4gb stick would be max, im guessing thats why it has a 2 + 4gb stick installed and not a single 8gb stick
