Network down after plugin access point into a switch

Hello network experts,

I have a problem here in my netwowk that is: when I plug a dlink access point in a switch, part of the network goes down, including the switches with the servers. It happens only in this specific switch. If I plug in the access point in another switch, everything goes fine.

The problematic switch is a 3Com Baseline Switch 2924-SFP Plus.

The other switches are 3Com Baseline Switch 2928-SFP Plus Software Version Release 1101P10 | HP 2920-24G Switch (J9726A) / Version: WB.15.16.0006, ROM WB.15.05 | HP V1910-24G Switch (JE006A) Software Version Release 1111.

What could be causing the problem? The access point has its DHCP server disabled.

Thank you.

the 3Com Baseline Switch 2924-SFP Plus is a managed switch. log into the management interface and see if there are any custom settings associated with this particular port.

also make sure the access point has a unique IP address, you may be causing an IP conflict.

Thank you for your answer.

The 3com switch is with its default configuration. If I connect the access point on any port the problem occurs.

Also the access point is configured with a fixed IP. Could be something related with the spanning tree?

sounds more like a MAC address arp table issue.

Have you tried power cycling the switch?

Have you tried disconnecting everything from the switch except the AP and your laptop?

define "part of the network goes down, including the switches with the servers."

is any device connected to that switch responding to ping by IP address when the AP is connected?
is the AP responding to ping when connected to that switch?

Didn't tried to disconnect everything from the switch.

When I say that the network goes down, after I plug in the AP, every user looses the connection to the servers. I didn't check exactly if the switch which the servers are on goes down. I cannot ping any address after I connect the AP. When I remove the AP from the switch, everything goes back to normal. The AP doesn't respond to a ping after I connect it to that switch.
