Im getting a low end graphics card for my optiplex and it says that it needs 300watts but my power supply outputs 280watts. So my question is, are there any power supplies that give more than 300 watts?

Solution
A lot of people run GTX750Ti in those. The 750Ti draws 65W from the PCIe slot which can supply 75W. The dell PSUs are conservatively rated for continiuous draw not peak rating like aftermarket. The low power is because there aren't many drive bays or expansion slots in thet computer so less power is required. There is a 95W CPU limit in the BIOS so 95W CPU+ 65W GPU + 20W for memmory= 180W which leaves 100W to run the chipset and DVD drive.

Thats why Im trying to find a small power supply that would fit in the Desktop case with 400-500 watts.

A lot of people run the GTX750Ti low profile in these with the Dell PSU. The Dell PSUs are covservatively rated and the GPU itself draws 65W from the PCIeslot. The low PSU rating is due to the limited number of expansion slots and bays on the DT case. I know of people who run bigger PSUs sitting on the desk like a power brick. The cables on an aftermarket PSU are long enough to reach into the case. But you need a LOw Pro GPU anyway so there's really no point.

Do you think any of them have had failures with their hardware? If no, I guess ill be getting the 750ti then.

So do you think the 750ti will run good with my 280 watt psu?

Can you post a pic of the PSU? Specifically the load table. I can at least look to see if it'll be run within the specifications. And it'd be nice to know your CPU, too. Which is probably something very low-power anyway, but still nice to know.
