So i read the how to ask for help thread and i will do my very best to be forum-correct :).

I current run a amd phenom ii 1045 xt ( not overclocked ) with 8gb of ram.
i have a xfx radeon r7 240 graphics card.
I have a max power supply according to the side of the inside of my computer of 460w.

I specifically only play a few games; WoW, diablo, etc.
I recently have been getting messages from blizzard that my graphics card isnt good enough and i might not be running optimally. I currently run fairly easy, with the exception that i have to run everyone on average settings or turn some off- lol. Lag or FPS isnt an issue as long as i dont up the graphics or do large scale pvp ( i.e world events )

I was reading the power supply article ( which they said its not boring) but there is a lot of info that is just over my head lol.

blizzard recommends r7 260 x or higher for graphic cards and over the years ive used both chipsets and i tend to prefer amd.

some cards i was looking at;
Amd radeon r7 360;

amd radeon r7 370

Now to my power supply question, i dont mind spending 50-100 bucks if it would extend the life of this rig a few years, issue is- what can i use ? is it just about buying and plugging it in ?.

are the above cards even an option for me ? again i only play wow, i bought this computer about 6 years ago new for 1100 and its served me well, i dont feel like buying a whole new rig atm. Any help and advice would help. I appreciate all you guys and your patience with people like me.

RX 460 is a new card architecture, and is faster, for another $30 or so, it's a good increase over the 360. The nVidia GTX 950 is also good, and you can get it for a bit over $110 now with rebates, but it would need a new driver setup if you have an AMD card now. R7 360 will still run games fine, but it's a level under the 460 now.

While that R7 360 is a decent price, this is a better buy right now http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150780&ignorebbr=1

You don't need a different power supply for that card.

Another option, if you were planning to spend about $100 on a card and another $100 on a new PSU, you can get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125896 and it will last longer as far as ability to run newer games on and at higher quality. You would actually need a CPU upgrade to makes us of the 470 to it's full speed at some point, but it's a better long-term buy.

SO what makes the rx460 so much better ? again- as a layman, The 360 scores well, also i really only play wow and if it could last me a year or 2 ill be happy. 2-300 dollars and i feel like i might as well just invest in a new rig at that point. Or maybe im just that clueless ?

Given your CPU, and WoW favoring Nvidia, I would have to say a gtx 950 would suit your setup, quite well. You may still have some bottlenecking, due to CPU, but I don't believe it will be that bad. Price is too close, to the 750ti, for me to recommend it.

Still wouldn't recommend the 460, for WoW, after seeing the 460 review. Yes it would be better, than what you have, but the GTX 950 is far better, in this title.
