I have a 46 inch LCD tv. it started clicking and not turning on. so I did some research and took it apart and found 2 blown capacitors. I got the parts and changed them out. after getting the new ones in I went to power it up and it is still clicking and then a pause and then it would click again. any ideas? should I change all of them out?

Solution
First find the source of the click. I tend to believe it will be a capacitor however you need to remain open minded and observant.

Look at and inspect all of the capacitors for signs of a problem: e.g., swelling, leaking, scorching....any deformity.

Probably will need to desolder, test, replace. But use the schematics to guide yourself - maybe the power related circuits first.

Someone else may add some additional ideas - well and good from my viewpoint.

Well I checked and the new ones are fine, also all of the other capacitors seem fine as well

Any pattern to the clicking? Regular, random...?

Does the clicking stop if you disconnect other inputs: e.g., DVD player, game box.... All connections tight and snug.

Any outlet extenders or surge protectors in use? What about nearby appliances, electronics, other sources of interference?

Is the click in the speaker(s) or just emanating from the set?

See what you can eliminate. The capacitors may seem find but if out of tolerance or even mis-coded - who knows what they could be doing....

there are no surge protectors or anything being used at this time, its plugged directly into the wall. nothing is hooked up to I since I have it apart so I can work on it. as soon as I plug it in there is a click and then about 10 seconds and then a click again. the little red led light blinks and then goes out. if I hit the power button it clicks once and then a gap and clicks again. the clicks are not out of the speakers its somewhere on the board almost like its trying to start up but It just cant. the screen doesn't light up either

Do you have a non-conductive stetheoscope? Or some other way to listen around the board to pinpoint the source of the clicks?

Click (mechanical) or snap (discharge/spark).....? Maybe a darkened room will reveal a spark somewhere.

Keep narrowing it down. Time the clicks for awhile...

My hope was that the time between discharges (presuming a capacitor problem) may help identify the problem device or circuit.

Along with some additional effort to narrow down the specific location of the click. E.g. a power relay as was suggested by Makkem. Find the location, check the schematic, see what the component is.

At this point I am not sure what else to suggest beyond a fallback to Makkem's post along with some study of the schematics.

Especially if the red light is part of the startup/power-on sequence.

Well I know the capacitors I changed out were on the cold side, so what is an idea should try?
