Hi there..to give some background on my situation, me and my roommate have been talking about getting a new router as the Wi-Fi signal in our flat is pretty bad. We're using wired connection for our PCs, however we need Wi-Fi for our phones. So today he came home with a router, however I noticed that it was a DSL router issued by an ISP. I told him it won't work, but he was being persistent about it, so yeah. I hook everything up to the DSL router and prove him that it does not work. After that, I reconnect everything to the old router. Now, the thing is, the internet just stopped working. When I try to open the gateway thing to configure the router, I get a not found error, however I did notice, that instead of showing the old tab icon, it showed the DSL router's icon, not the one we had before. Anyways, I reboot my PC, reset the internet connection, reset the routers, nothing. I once managed to get into the old router, the ethernet router's configuration page, however I could not do anything as everything was set to normal. I changed the IP of the old router, connected the DSL router, changed the IP of the DSL router, then set the old router's IP back to what it was, didn't work. I did the IP release and renew thing, didn't work either. Tried to set a default gateway and IP address, didn't work either. Tried to use a new ethernet cable instead of the old one, didn't work either.

Any help is appreciated, thank you alot in advance.

What was the original connectivity: e.g. coax to cable modem ----ethernet cable------>old router (wired to pc, wireless to phones).

Makes and models? Do you have the User Guides and Manuals?

Overall not sure of what you may have done but (full disclosure) not really sure I understand the full setup and the events that transpired.

Please add some more details.

You may need to contact your ISP and get the old router reactivated. Or at least have them run some diagnostics from their end.
