Hi. I recently bought a MSI Aero 1070 8GB OC and ive started to get worried about the performance under load. I've seen benchmarks on youtube people have done with the graphics card I have. Benchmarks such as Unigine Heaven etc. Their FPS on this benchmark was 91.4 (average) and highest around 190. My benchmark only got an average of 71 fps and highest around 171 fps (WITH THE EXACT SAME SETTINGS) Ive also noticed this in other games.

My GPU usage is pretty high, id say its an average of 80% but can go down to 70, and sometimes up to almost 100%. My cpu usage is not high at all, only 30-35%. My RAM usage does not change at all 50% idle and 50% under load, idk why this is? Also my gpu's power usage is pretty high under load.

Possible bottleneck?
Should i return it for a different GPU?
Im not that rich and i spent a lot of my savings on this card so please help me.

Thanks in advance /Simon

My specs:
8GB DDR4 RAM
Intel Core i7 3820k Quad-Core
MSI 1070 Aero 8GB GDDR5 1721 Mhz
Silverpower 500W PSU
Motherboard: Asus p9 X79 Pro

Solution
OC your CPU. If your GPU usage is not at 99% the whole time, you will not get the same score they do. They use super high clocked CPU's of the latest design. It's actually very difficult to get a bottleneck in that benchmark, but you did.

And your per core CPU usage is what matters. There is only 1 thread that feeds the GPU on that CPU, and it is on 1 core. It does not use multiple cores, so if it is at 100%, that only translates to a fraction of your overall CPU usage.

Thank you for the answer, I will try what you said and get back to you. Just to be sure, did you watch the benchmark videos they did with the GPU i havet? And are you aware of that i get poor results compared to Youtube benchmarks on the other games aswell? Also how much should i overclock the CPU? Sorry for many questions but im new to this :)

I did not watch the videos, but you made it pretty clear, you had 80%-100% GPU usage. That means you are losing up to 20% performance at times. That's the sign of a bottleneck. You could have had Vsync or Gsync on too, which would also cause a bottleneck. You will not be able to match the results of someone with a 4.7Ghz 6700K with your CPU, in CPU bound areas.

FPS are not soley determined by your GPU.
