Hi everyone,

I've been very well advised on this board about good 4K gaming gear, so I thought I'd ask back here for help about a music production rig.
I have a M-Audio ProFire 2626 audio card that connects with FireWire 400.
I will try out Ubuntu Studio, which I read is full of very interested open-source software for audio editing and recording, as well as video editing, 3D graphics, etc. If Ubuntu Studio doesn't cut it then I will install my copy of ProTools M-Powered on Windows.

Now I don't know if companies are still building motherboards with FireWire ports (I doubt it) but I have a PCI FireWire expansion card. So if there aren't any new motherboards with FireWire, I would need one with at least one PCI slot.

I would plug this into my Samsung 32" TV with HDMI. I've done it before and it allows me to have a huge screen where I split up everything I need everywhere on the screen and I can work easier that way compared to Alt-Tabbing between windows.

So I'm asking for a strong build, fast (at least 16Gb of RAM I think), at least 2 Tb of storage space.
It also needs to be as quiet as possible.

Thanks for your help ;-)

Tweaked it a little. Wasn't sure how much graphics card you needed, so you might change that to suit your needs. The 1060 would be a good option for rendering and playback and very good for 1080p gaming, if inclined.
