Alright ladies.

I just got my 2k monitor in the mail today. Went to hook it up and my screen was stuck at 640x480. In a little box on my screen covering like an 8th of my monitor. So I tried everything to figure what the hell was going on. I unplugged and replugged everything in. THis is the first time I have used my display port on my graphics card since I bought it over a year ago. I have a Gigabyte G1 970.

When I uninstalled my drivers the screen would come noramal and I could get my resolution to 1440p. I use display driver uninstaller. I reinstalled my driver with the lastest NVidia driver and restarted my computer. Same thing, stuck at 640x480 on a portion of the screen. So I went back to my old monitor that uses DVI and now everything is fuzzy. I have tried everything. Every time I uninstall the driver for graphics card it goes to its normal resolution with both monitors I only have one plugged in at once. I resulted to a fresh install and I am still having the same issue. What is going on here? Could my display ports be bad on graphics card, but why when I go back to my old setup everything is ruined now.

you need to fix the Microsoft Basic Display Driver being used instead of nvidia drivers first otherwise you won't be able to solve anything.
did you install the nvidia experience software and went in to set the resolution manually? also always restart your PC after installing video drivers since your morning is using the basic video communication protocols because it couldn't find any special drivers.

Dude i tried everything. I installed and reinstalled the drivers like 10 times trying everything. It would be fine, then i would restart my computer and everything would be so fuzzy it was unreadable. So i resulted to putting my old 60hz monitor with dvi back up with fresh installed drivers. I got the same thing. SO somehow me plugging that display port cable in ruined my graphics card. They have never been used so im guessing thats where they went wrong? Also every time i would restart my geforce experience it would keep re-downloading the same driver. The device manager giving me the error code 43. So i put in an RMA through Gigabyte.

I meant onboard graphics. That's what I was saying. I tried all the ports on the graphics card. Even the Dvi ports with my old monitor which worked perfectly up until I tried changing monitors today. Now they are crazy blurry when the driver is installed. When there is no nvidia driver. There is no blurriness.

damn nVidia drivers... I got a green screen at work today after an update, can only use HDMI output.
try not just uninstalling the drivers but deleting it registries and stuff with a program. then I suggest downloading a previous version of the drivers not the most up-to-date ones to see if that helps.

I tried that. I went to my last stable driver. I would delete my registry values. But the same thing happened after a Windows 7 fresh install before there were any previous nvidia registry entries. Idk I'm lost. I ordered a new cable and sent in an rma guess I'll just have to wait and see. I read that those DisplayPort cables can be hard on your hardware?

I doubt the cable is responsible for this. they usually are when you don't get a display at all or you get artifact and disconnecitons.

do you have access to another video card with display port to test on your pc?
