Hi there,
I have been recently considering upgrading my PC. I have the choice of getting a used E5-2670v3 and an x99 motherboard for the same price as an i7 6700 and a suitable decent motherboard. I don't plan on OCing whatsoever and was just wondering what is the best option and route for me to go down. I would like this processor to support fairly a powerful GPU and last for quite a few years. I mainly hope to use this PC as a workstation but also as a gaming PC. Which leads me on to my sub-question, is the E5-2670v3 (clocked at ~2.30GHz) actually any good for gaming?

what games are u playing ? and how important they are to u ? also buying a used cpu can be tricky but it is fair to say that there are some actually trusted buyers on ebay that makes it alot easier
