Can I take out my 1TB HDD from old Vista computer with photos, documents, musice, etc on it and put it directly into a new Rig running Windows 10, again as a secondary storage HDD....Will be using a SSD for OS.

Solution
If it's sata, there will be no problems. If it's older than that you will need some sort of adapter or external usb connected dock. If the photos are important to you, I would make a copy of the HDD as well.

The idea is to transfer and still have access to all the information and files contained on the drive from previous computer....i don't care about the programs and applications. Just the files, etc.

Thanks, the HDD currently is not my primary OS HDD, it is acting solely as storage with files/pictures/etc. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't going to be any formatting issues having a different OS reading the files.

It should see it least in Disk Manager if Windows doesn't like seeing it.
You can manage it there and essentially 'import' it into Windows since it is already formatted.
Manually delete all unecessary folders (games/apps) as Uninstalling them isn't possible.

It is a Sata, the 1TB HDD Storage Drive is only about 4 months old. I was most likely going to copy as much as i could to flash drives, but wanted to know if anyone could give me a realistic expectation of this just working with no data loss. Old desktop has a 250GB HDD as OS drive, new one will be using a SSD as the OS boot and application drive. Just want to "plug and play" the 1TB HDD storage drive......feeling a little more confident with all ur suggestions.
