I game and multitask alot and also stream and more and more I notice my i5 3570k getting to 100% usage, and I don't even stream at high settings, only like 540p at ~700 bitrate (doesn't look as horrible as you'd imagine, I can't go any higher, my lame ISP has a GB monthly cap)
anyway, I have long thought about getting a cheap used i7 2600k, and the plus is I wouldn't have to reformat my OS swapping out the i7 for the i5. I'm just not personally sure how well the 4 cores plus HT would fare against the 8 AMD cores, although they're much weaker per core. Biggest con for me with the AMD would be having to do a fresh install of windows, I just dread doing the entire process again of getting everything set up.
Anybody here with experience with the 2600k multitasking, gaming, and streaming? Or the fx 8320 or 8320e? I like the newer 8320e since it uses less power and could work on a cheaper 95w mobo.
I have thought about a 1230 1155 socket xeon cpu, essentially an i7 without integrated graphics...but I like having the peace of mind incase my gpu were to die that I'd still have integrated graphics to do light gaming on and be able to use the pc.
I'm not a fanboy of either company tbh, have used both in the past...used to have a Phenom x6 pc at 3.5ghz and didn't notice much of a real world difference between it and my (on paper) much stronger i5 3570k pc...I don't play single thread intensive games, and if I do, it's super casually like a co op vs a.i. match with a friend on Starcraft 2, nothing super tryhard where I'd need 60fps
