Hi,

I have changed the permission of a Sub-Folder, thinking i could restrict the access that users have for files and documents within this folder only.

When the permission changed were finished, the folder disappeared !!

I can see the folder when remote accessing the server where the shared folders are stored, but its empty.

I have tried to replace the permission entries on "child" folders, but it comes up with " The system cannot find the file specified " (this is the folder i am wanting to get back)

I am the system administrator so i should have all the access needed to get this to work.

I have tried the "encrypt conents to save disk space, but it comes up with "recovery policy configured for this system contains invalid recovery certificate??

I have gone through old threads, but cannot find a solution that works for me.

Please help me because this folder is very important for me.

Thanks in advance

You'll want to look at the permissions on the parent folder that you can still see. Make sure you have full permissions there. If there's not much else under that folder, you can also make those permissions flow down to subfolders and files.

You write :
"I can see the folder when remote accessing the server where the shared folders are stored, but its empty"
Do I understand that correctly - the folder is NOT or was not on your computer ? You have a copy on a server operated by a service provider ?

Exactly how did you set those permissions? You said it's on a server, it's on a domain? Sounds like you restricted that folder to everyone. You can deny access to an administrator account also if you try hard enough, and if you removed even System access to that folder, not good. Did you try taking ownership of it? Restore from a backup to another place. If it's on a server, I sure hope you have backups.

It is not on my computer, but on a server.
We have some servers that are virtual and some that are based at where i am.
This server where the folder is located is accessible from all our servers ( like a main shared location )
I am not the best in computers so i find it hard to explain.

I had set the permissions to deny "everyone", which was stupid.
I logged in as the "owner" and set the main folder to grant permission again, then the child folder permissions, and it appeared.

Thanks all for your help, was getting nervous there.
