HP updating advice with used parts

hey guys im completely new to computers.
especially gaming on them. i have a HP notebook i purchased it brand new the OS is i5-6200u with one terabyte of data and 520 HD graphics card and 4GB ram.
my question is i want to update my ram to 8GB or maybe 12 or 16 i have 2 DDR5 8GB ram sticks in a used dell laptop. im scared it will burn out my computer if i make such a high jump or if its even a good idea to use used ram sticks. The dell is also i5 operating system Anyone got any advice??

well i wouldnt recomend trying to game on a laptop that isnt made for it also you dont have a graphics card you graphics are integrated to you cpu the only upgrades you could do is add an ssd and upgrade the ram but that wouldnt help out in games that much you need to make sure that the ram is compatible that laptop is only good for light titles sorry for the bad news
