Hello, I'm looking for some advice regarding a new graphics card.
I want the best possible option that'll fit with my specs with no problems (preferably nVidia)

BUDGET: £300-£400GBP // which is $390-$490 in USD //

CURRENT SPECS:
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K
RAM: HyperX 16Gb DDR3 1866MHz
MOBO: Z97 PC MATE
CASE: BitFenix Shinobi Gaming Black Midi Tower Case

Thanks in advance! <3

The GTX 1060 was supposed to replace the GTX 980 and most websites it is close to the 980 but falls short and on some others it seems to beat the 980. It probably depends on what programs & games you are going to use the card for as to which will perform better for you. I feel the 1060 is very close the the 980 if I was to compare the two. I would opt for the 1060 since it is the newer Pascal chip over the older Maxwell and performance may improve with driver tweaks down the road. The 1070 will clearly beat both the 1060 & the 980.

For that price range here in the states I'd say get a GTX 1070, but I don't know what they are going for in your neck of the woods.

Get a 1070, not a 980ti. The 1070 already is better, and its lead will only increase when dx12 becomes mainstream. You might have trouble finding one at a reasonable price, but they're great cards (I have one and I love it).

Sure OP can get a new one if he wants, but I feel Its not as good a bang for your buck and would rather go the 1070 route for future/DX12 reasons. My opinion is different.

''but I feel '' ?? your not him or know all his needs ??

I would rather go the 1080 then I went 980ti over the 10 series anyway due to better support for my needs and its not like dx12 is piling up at my front door there can be more to it then fps and dx12 then I guess led lighting is a 10 series strong selling point ??

some guys got the 10 series cards a just to find there monitor don't work cause it needs analog [dvi-I] or a dual boot xp or vista and no driver support ??

see with that they bought a new card and find there buying more new stuff to support there card I buy hardware that supports me not me supporting them .

thing is he asked the best ?? and we all know that's all a matter of opinion whats best for you , me ,or the guy down the street may not be so best for him ?

like I said with his build any retail card will do fine .. he needs to know what he needs and what supports his needs

anyway good luck on what ever card you decide on and enjoy

Sinatra, I would go for the 1070, the 980 Ti, is slower and last gen if you don't upgrade your GPU that often I'd get the latest technology available when you do. Then when you hit the power button you don't have that regret you settled on the old tech instead of getting the latest and greatest. I always feel you should have a smile on your face when you hit the power button.

Buying a used card is always a gamble there is a reason they are selling it. Either it is too slow for their needs. Or perhaps it is starting to exhibit signs it is dying. You have no idea how the last owner treated it. Was it constantly OC'd to where its life has been shortened. Of course it could have been used by a very nice church lady that only used the card to watch church on youtube on Sundays...
