Long post time possible hdd failure?

I built the system I'm using around 4 months ago. Around 2 days ago I booted it up and it stayed on the bios and motherboard logo screen for around 1.5 minutes. I did the basic trouble shooting stuff (I.e. removing the ram and hdd.)
I've narrowed it down to my hard drive because my computer acts like it normally would if ram was missing. So my question is would a long POST time be a symptom of hard drive failure?

Hi there Badlinuxusr,

As you've narrowed it down to the drive, you can just attach it to another, working machine and test it with some of these: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
The results will show if the drive has failed or not.

Apart from that, it may be a good idea to double check all the connections.(HDD ones including - use different cables and SATA port)
