Ok so we have just moved into a new house, an old 1800 cottage and the walls are HUGE like 5 times the size of a standard wall the router is no more than 5 metres from where my computer is situated and i vary between no signal and 1 bar. I today purchased a wifi booster an plugging it into the only socket nearest on the other side of the massive wall displays "too far" I read about connecting 2 routers together to increase wifi range but this would not be possible in my case could anyone refer me to anymore methods?

If you own the house, I would pull out one of my long concrete bits and bore an inconspicuous hole to pass a cable.

There are really no wireless solutions other than an expensive pair of AC1900 routers with one in media bridge mode, and even then with that much signal attenuation you might not get great results.

If the place has wiring that is not ancient, a pair of AV1200 powerline adapters would probably work well. I would consider picking up a pair of TP-Link AV1200 adapters from walmart.com and try them (you can return for 15 days if they don't work). THIS is the set, although for a bit more you can get the version with passthrough plugs. The set without passthrough goes on sale at Newegg for $50 about once a month.
