Hey I just came into a lot of time sitting around the house. We already have Shaw (Cable Company) boxes around, and we can PVR what channels we want. However I have never really been a TV guy. I also have Netflix on there, but tend just to not watch much on that. I turn to that when there is nothing on TV, which tends to be a lot lately. Plus its hard to find whats new on netflix.

Android Box seems the way to go from what I have read.
BestBuy.ca is selling the Nvidia Shield $299 and the Pro $399
Is this the best box out there?
I dont do 3k. Plus I will be buying a new computer so I was wondering if I could get the box on my computer but I doubt I can. It will be an i5 4th gen, LGA 1151 Skylake DDR4 Z170 board with a good GPU, GTX 900 series or 1000 series. I will also have to buy a TV for the Android, to setup in my room for that Android box.

Well honestly pretty much they are the best android tv boxes only because of the pro's inclusion of a large hard drive and the fact they both can stream video in native 4k resolution so pictures and videos look sharper and crisper they also come with almost all tv streaming services available even crunchyroll which is rare. It can also have 4 player splitscreen in some games, so honestly sadly those are the best android tv devices. And for the computer no sadly not unless you use a emulator like bluestacks but even high end hardware has problems with it.

OK so I cant use Android off the computer, that's what I thought.

I did not realize there were a lot more streaming services out there.
I wonder if there is a list somewhere that lists all the streaming services out there.
I see the odd TV commercial for Netflix style services, Shomi is one. Roku and Apple TV are some more I found will trying to find the name for Shomi.

From the reading I have done so far, the gaming seems to be a bonus atleast for me. I tend to like cheaper games anyway, and android games are a dime a dozen right, a few bucks for this or that game. I never played them on my small iPhone 4S because well the screen was too small, Hill Climber was the only one. Desktop I play a lemmings style maze game called Desktop Tower Defense. Just cheap, cheesy games. Maybe this will ease the pain of being held up in house for 6 months.

Another bonus is I think Android TV will be better then Canadian Netflix for movies. I might try for American Netflix, try a tunnel service or something. In the news Netflix seems to have been cracking down.

Anyway, thanks for the help. More internet searching is in order.
