Hi I'm planing on getting a GTX 970 4GD5T Titanium OC 4GB and I currently have a evga gtx 570 I think my power supply is 500 or 550 wats I'll double check after this but do the graphics cards take the same amount of power or do I need to get a new psu
I'm just wondering so I don't screw up my PC.

Solution
yes, you will consume even less power after you get the 970. nice upgrade BTW. If you PSU didn't give you any trouble with the 570 I wouldn't worry so much with the 970 since it will not strain it as the 570 did.

Solution
1. According to NVidis a 970 system needs a 500 watt PSU ... it averages about 170 watts in gaming, before overclocking w/ peaks at 192 watts, add 15% for overclocking based upon techpowerup and Guru3D testing

2. According to nVidia, the 570 needed a 550 watt PSU.... abd can pull up to 200 watts before overclocking

3. The 570 came out in 2010 and if the both were purchase back then, and no matter how good the PSU, those caps are getting old. The new load is certainly less than the old one but I'd think about replacing it of it's circa 2010.... good for now, but should be in your future plan to replace if going on 7 years old.
