I have an old PC about 6 years. it's a stock Dell Inspiron 546. I added a GT 730 and a Hyper Evo 212. It's a bit overkill. The PC is from '09 and was wondering if a Corsair RM650x would work. I know on the newer PC cases and motherboards there are different connectors because i tried to move the innards of the Dell into a NZXT Source 530 but a lot of the connectors were different. So will this newer PSU fit into this PC. I also and getting a Phenom II X4 965 hopefully and I might need to get a PSU that's why. Just looked it up, it is a Mini Tower
Thank you in advance

Solution
yes it should fit and connector are the same, the problem is the motherboard might have custom made screws holes so they might not be standard. the rest is normal.

And will the 300 watt PSU that comes with the PC be enough to power the Phenim II X4 965, hyper evo 212, GT 730 and then the rest of the stock PC?

it should fit if the dimension HxW are fine but has a little more depth.

Inspiron 546 Desktop
PSU Form Factor: Standard ATX12V
Dimensions: 150mm x 86mm x 140mm

Corsair RM650x
Dimensions: 150mm x 86mm x 160mm

you can measure yourself with a ruler to see if the HxW fit. going for a non-OEM PSU on this PCs are usually a no-go though...

how do i know if the PSU is non-oem? Are Corsair, Evga Thermaltake OEM? What makes it OEM? The new PSU will be used for a gaming PC that i have still have to purchase the parts for. I was thinking the Corsair Rm650X or the Evga SuperNova G2 650W? If those are good, reliable PSUs then I'll get one but one and if it fits its fits and if not I'll just have it ready when i buy the rest of the parts.
