Hi All,

I am in Australia and am looking at building a Pc for myself. The main use of the PC will be for editing Short Videos (mostly in 4k), aswell as some gaming at ULTRA settings. All my work is just for hobby not professional, although i do want the system to be quick. My budget is about $2500 AUD for just the tower. Can anyone help me with what to buy and build?

Thanks guys !

P.s. i should add, the 4k footage is drone footage for short youtube videos.. nothing pro just yet. Also the gaming i dont intend to do on 4k.. just 1080 or 1440 if the budget allows.

Solution

Since you want gaming and video, I would suggest putting the difference into a 1080 upgrade, and then go from 6700 to 6700k and h170 to z170

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($479.00 @ Centre Com)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($65.00 @ CPL Online)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($179.00 @ PCCaseGear)
Memory: Kingston FURY 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($96.00 @ CPL Online)
Storage: A-Data...
2500AUD is pretty tight budget for 4K. You will NOT be able to game at 4K with ultra settings, but 1080P and even 1440P should be fine. Here's your best bet:

Hi MrGaabz :)

You should be able to build a really good system with your Budget.
Where are you located,? I'm on the Gold Coast and get my kit from UMART. They are very competitive with a good web site to choose your gear from.
Use Partpicker to build and try different combinations. Then shop around to compare prices.

Choose your platform be it AMD or Intel for CPU and MB.
A decent quality PSU of the right Wattage is all important.
Are you using your system for gaming.? Yes
Do your homework for what suits you best then post your PartPicker selection here for scrutiny.

Yes it is a bit above the Goal, you even could get a i7-5820k and save 200$. So but if you is saying short Videos, skylake (i7-6700k) is just fine, Video editing profits from more cores especially in 4k, but if you only do edit like 1-4 hours material per week it is not necessary. If you edit like more than 20 hours Video material per week it is worth it.

Hi Basroil,

If you get rid of the moniter where else would you put the extra money as its 2500 for the tower only?
