Hi well i have some problems with my computer well when i install something or i am on the desktop my both hard drive's are turning off and turning on everytime does that any help ?

Solution
It could a mobo issue, since you've mentioned that both drives are acting up. It could be the PSU if they are really turning off and not just freezing/hanging. This could be explained if the PSU i underpowering them because of a malfunction or something else as drive need a bit more power when they spin-up compared to while they are idle.

However I'd still recommend that you backup your important info first even if it's in small chunks and after that test the drives for errors and bad sectors to make sure that they are working fine.

You could also take the whole PC to a computer service shop and get it fully diagnosed.

Please keep me posted.
Hey there, Michael.

Are you talking about internal or external drives? How did you determine that they are turned off? Is it possible that hearing the noise from them spinning up and down is the reason for you to think that they've been turned on or off?

I'd recommend that you check if they are still recognized by Disk Management when you say that they have been turned off. Here's how to open it: How to access Disk Management in Windows to manage hard drives.
You could also check the cables and make sure that they are properly seated and try different ports and cables to see if the issue still persists. You could also download an HDD diagnostic tool and test the drives for errors.

It would be wise to backup any important information you might have on them, just to be on the safe side.

Hope that helps.
