My power went out during a storm one day and when I got back up and attempted to turn on my PC, it was on for about 8 seconds, then the backlight in the monitor went black, but the power on it stayed lit as if it were on and being used. I've tried three different video cards, two power supplies, two monitors, and two video cables, and it's all done the same thing. I've also tried adjusting the settings on the monitor, such as the brightness and contrast, as well as resetting to factory settings on it. What do you all think is the problem here and how would I go about fixing it?

pull the gpu and reset the bios. see if onboard video comes on. if not pull the mb see if with one stick of ram and a known working power supply the pc comes on. with pc now i seen a lot of them killed when power goes back from cable modem ethenet port hit.

Tried multiple power outlets. Actually have near the exact same system as you, shoe59, so no onboard video. Each stick of RAM worked fine. I've actually been working on it this morning and plugged it into a TV with HDMI and it's been going well so far without turning off the display. I'm beginning to think that both monitors were bad, but that seems odd to me. Will update further as I go.

Still going well. Hasn't went off and seems to be running fine with the exception of one of the RAM sticks not showing up. I'll try to fix that a little bit later and will check my monitor on another PC when someone gets home here. Thank you all.
