I got myself a GTX1070 last week and I had been thinking about getting a new CPU. The thing is my motherboard is already outdated. (Gigabyte X79s UP5)

The only 2011 CPU I could find is 3970x locally and the price is 644 USD. Do you think it's a good idea to get this or simply get a new motherboard and cpu and ddr4 rams and move the old one to my old case and use it elsewhere (maybe in my summer house)

Solution
wait till the end of the year then switch. on the lower end 1151 mb the newer 200 chipset and kurby lake will be out. on the higher end cpu wait till the newer skylake e drop. they may not be using the 2011-3 pin out. if they come out using a new slot and you have the older 2011-3 you have to buy a new mb for the newer cpu.

Only gaming and using DAWs at the moment. 3820 has no problems with games at all. Running its turbo at 4.3Ghz instead of the original 3.8 Ghz but still would like a more up yo date mb and cpu. I think I'll wait a bit.
