Very recently, I've been running into issues where I can't run DirectX 11 or DX12 titles on my PC.

I can run games like DOOM (using Vulkan), Prison Architect and Minecraft (OpenGL) and CS:GO (DX9) just fine, but games like Fallout 4, The Witcher 3, GTA 5 (DX11) start up for 15-20 seconds, then close down for no apparent reason. I can't run Rise Of The Tomb Raider in DX12 mode either, as it goes onto the loading screen for the menu, then closes with again, no apparent reason.

I've been having this issue since yesterday, seemingly around the time that I signed up for Introversion as I got into Prison Architect quite a bit, and everything was running fine before then.

My specs are
CPU: Intel Core i7-3770k (not sure what drivers, but it's all running fine)
GPU: ASUS R9 Nano 4 GB (Updated from 16.7.2 to 16.8.1 which hasn't resolved the issue)
RAM: 16 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 @ 1600 MHz
OS: Windows 10 64-bit (updated to the latest version of W10, hasn't fixed)

If you happen to know the remedy to this solution, please answer, thanks :)

Solution
So the DX12 games were working fine until today?

Maybe a GPU driver issue, try the following, as updating drivers sometimes gets broken by the old ones not being removed properly:

If you have graphics or driver issues, one of the most common fixes is a clean uninstall and removal of your graphics drivers.

To uninstall your drivers, first download and run Display Driver Uninstaller, and follow it's recommendations of booting into safe mode and ect.
(This is a direct download link so you don't grab the wrong version)
http://www.guru3d.com/files-get/display-driver-uninstaller-download,20.html

You'll download a compressed file called "[Guru3D.com]-DDU.zip"
Right click and choose extract.
Go into the folder and run the DDU v##.##.exe...

It was an upgrade install (had windows 7 before) which I did about a month ago
Everything was working perfectly fine up until today.

This will extract more files to this folder.
Run Display Driver Uninstaller.exe
Choose Yes when it asks you to boot into SafeMode.
After you've rebooted into safe mode.
When DDU comes up, if it hasn't selected your GPU manufacturer (Nvidia/AMD/Intel) then choose it from the drop down list
Press the Clean and Restart option
If a window comes up asking to disable the Windows automatic installation of display drivers click yes.

After (or before removing the old drivers, just put the new ones on the desktop or somewhere handy) rebooting back into Windows, manually download the latest drivers from Nvidia or AMD, don't use auto detect, choose you GPU model and OS from the drop down lists.

It could possibly be a driver issue, but why so sudden? It stops both DX11 and DX12 from working, but DX9, OpenGL and Vulkan run just fine

If The Witcher 3 still doesn't work after the re-install is complete, I'll try that

Update: It was working fine after reinstall... until I alt tabbed out, then it stopped responding so I had to end it with task manager. As soon as I restarted it though, it went back to its "cba to work" ways. I'm about to try the clean driver install
