Best GPU for 1080p Gaming?

Hey everyone,

I'm currently running an old (2010ish) AMD HD7870XT which has taken everything I threw at it up until roughly last year. Ideally I'd like something that can handle max settings but I only game at 1080p so if there are any people more knowledgable than I in this department; your advice would be invaluable.

The GTX 1060 will run almost if not everything at 1080p if you wanna give yourself some headroom go with the gtx 1070

1060 prices here in AUS are a bit inflated but I got the feeling it was the goto for what I want. I might fork out for one if that's the case, got a couple of other things to upgrade so I probably won't need to go up to a 1070.

For 1080p@60Hz both the RX480 and GTX1060 will be comfortable. For 1080p@144Hz you can go up to GTX 1080 really, if you want to reach anything close to 144Hz on high to max settings in new games.

For maxed out settings at 60fps at 1080P, yeah the GTX 1060 and RX 480 are your best bet. But if you just need high settings, then the mid $150 cards like the GTX 960 and the RX 470/460 are good aswell.

The rx-460 or 470 are both great options/even the r9 380.
