Well, like the title says. I have an Alienware M18xr2 with 4 8gb crucial ram 1 cards reads 1333mhz, and the other 3 read at 1600mhz in Intel extreme tuning utility. The were purchased in pairs, and should be perfectly compatible with each other. I have a 330 power supply, 3940xm, 780m, and windows 7 ultimate. Is there anyone out there who has seen this before or that knows what causes this. I've tried moving the cards around and even only using 2 cards, but it will aways have 1 card that reads at 1333. I've been in the bios, and everything.

Solution
Can try cpu-z (freeware) for some more info about the ram as well.Under the "Memory" tab the current settings, under the "SPD" tab the timings it should be.

This has been an issue since I installed the ram. I've scoured this site's forums for answers, but haven't figured it out. Maybe something about the main jdimmao bank1 tray being limited or something. It's really annoying. Many thanks to this site though. I've obtained tons of info from you guys during my build of this machine. I've installed the hhd, ram, gpu, cpu, new keyboard, and bought the 330 psu. I love it, and probably wouldn't trade it for any other laptop available. Thanks to this site mostly.

Does it say that only in the Intel tool or in the bios also?
Is the option of XMP available in the bios? If so set it to enabled, choose profile one,and see if it fixes the issue.Might want to use profile 2 if there and if 1 doesn't help.
What is the voltage of the ram set at? If set at 1.35V might need to raise it 0.05V,can add another 0.05V,see if that helps. This if XMP is not an option.

Yeah, in the bios I've got the ram set to 1600, and 1.55v. I've tried enabling xmp profiles for the ram, but when restarting I get 2 beeps, and then the system resets to the previous settings. When first installed all of the ram was reading at 1333 since that's the default setting for m18xr2. But after changing the settings in the bios, only 3 of the 8gb cards read 1600. One of them reads 1333 in xtu.

Also xtu doesn't have anything in the xmp profile options for ram profiles 1 and 2. Maybe that's why when I choose the options in system bios I get the 2 beeps then setting are reset.

Ie, xtu has xmp profiles set at 0 0 0 0

Can you do the next,to see if this gives the same readings?

Download hwinfo32,
http://www.hwinfo.com/download32.html
open it,
click run,
close the top window which is the system summary,
click save report at the left top,
in the next window at the bottom check=⓪ "short text report" after that next, you'll get to see what is in your pc,
copy that by clicking "copy to clipboard" and right click and paste in you next post.
can also just to see for yourself if you don't want to post al the specs. This tool can give info about alot of things like the ram,but temps too, maybe nice to have anyway.

I'm not sure what you mean by "do the next". I'll take a look. And which are you talking about to get the extra timing and temps

Okay, so there's a couple things I'm seeing here. Under memory in winfo32 current performance settings has max supported memory clock at 1300mhz. And current clock at 798.8 mhz (8:1 ratio) dual channel which should mean it's running at 1600 abouts.

When I test sensors there's an issue somewhere, and then under the timing for memory chips, the last one doesn't show anythjng for its timing. Perhaps it's a sensor issue? I'm trying to attach a couple photos.
