Hi All,

Spec :
i7 6850k
Asus X99 A-ii (BIOS version 0801, latest)
2 pack of Ballistix Sport 64GB DDR4 2400 Ram (16GB x4)
Win 7 Ult 64 bit

My question is I have 128GB Ram, but it only can use 96GB.

And I can have few times to detected 128GB ram and run the memory test with all passed result.

However, after the mem test success, then re-boot and I cannot get the 128GB back, it only show 96GB.

The BIOS and Windows only can show 6 slots of ram and 96GB.
But in CPUID-Z and in the BIOS DRAM SPD info page, they can show all info of 8 slots RAM, it is 128GB.

I tried the following testing steps ;
1. enable or disable the XMP.
2. add the voltage from 1.2 > 1.25 > 1.28 > 1.29 > 1.3 > 1.35.
3. Tested the RAM speed from 1866, 2133, 2400
4. Re-install all of the RAM slot
5. Disable the DRAM SVID support

I checked this forum, and google before ask.
I was disabled DRAM SVID Support and still testing the voltage now.

May I know how can I fix it ?
Anyone can help me ? Please Help !

both 2 sets are are : Crucial -- BLS4K16G4D240FSC
Crucial 64 gb kit (16 x4)

Crucial web site said it is compatible, but not in ASUS QVL.
even no Crucial 64GB kit was listed on ASUS QVL.

And in ASUS QVL only two set of RAM are 128GB kit.
(One is Corsair, One is G skill)

And Crucial support said there is no guarantee for 128GB case (64GB pack + 64GB pack)

Thanks for your reply first ~

Finally, I tested a lot tonight, I think I found the workacound solution finally ~

I testing many scenario to fix the RAM issue.

I guess, I found the problem.

Just guess ! I "guess" the problem may be casued by the asus "cpu installation tool" !
It make the CPU a bit thick, so when the Main board is in "straight", it will need more pressure on the CPU fan to push the CPU with the socket.

Here is my testing result :

1. Using just enough pressure to lock the CPU cooler, and the Main Board is in Horizontal. All 8 ram can be detected

2. I just put the Computer Case and Main Board to straight, it only can detect 6 Ram

3. I just release the CPU Cooler screw, just release a bit !, then it only can detect 4 RAM.

4. I resume the screw pressure same as "test 1", and "add a bit pressure" to lock the screw.
It will made the CPU cooler more tight to the CPU and the CPU socket.
Then all 8 ram can fully detected.

And now in the test 1, the CPU temperature is around 38C; after that in test 4, the CPU temperature is around 41 - 42 C.
(That is the temperature, just load in to the BIOS screen.)

And I am afraid, is it hamful to the CPU, and if high pressure from the cooler, will it affect or break the CPU die ?

BTW, I will run the memtest overnight to test the stability tonight.

I just hope I can solve the problem.
I think the problem "may be" casused by the "asus cpu installation tool", just my guess, no evidence !

Many Thanks !

P.S.
Sorry for my poor english.
I am not native english speaker, so hope you understand what I mean.

Honorable
I had trouble trying to mix 4x8 and 4x4 Ballistix Sport in a couple of X99-A's. One board wouldn't boot no matter the settings, and the other was unstable at 2133 and wouldn't boot at 2400. I ended up just using the larger kit at 2666/CL12. If the above suggestions don't help, you could try updating to the latest BIOS (3301) as a hail mary pass - it seems like they fixed a lot with it, but I haven't bothered trying the memory again.

after the physical "screw" add pressure", i re-set the BIOS setting to default.
voltage setting to auto (it run less than 1.2v)
The ram still work ~!

I tried over 12 hrs RAM test, it seems work very well
