My laptop running windows 8 crashes on boot or coming out of sleep. Windows never spits out an error log even if I leave it alone for a few hours. I did a clean install of window 8 and still have the problem. I have no clue what to do.
I do have problems with the wifi turning itself off and back on but other than that it works fine.

I made it blue screen but it stayed at 0% for over an hour while it said "We're collecting some data we will restart for you". I forced it off and installed Ubuntu alongside the current Win 8. There is no problem when I boot to Ubuntu, but the problem still persists on the windows boot. I will let it stay blue screened until it reaches 100% and I will report back.

Is this windows 8 or 8.1?? Is it up to date??

Some of the drivers are old / out of date and need to be updated

This DptfDevFan.sys Intel Dynamic Platform & Thermal Framework Fan Participant Driver is 5 yrs old. It's possible this is causing this stop error

Uninstall AIcharger, this is a known cause of this 0x9f stop error

This file excsd.sys by the looks of it belongs to Diskkeeper. It's 4 yrs old. Either update it or uninstall it

This file ASMMAP64.sys ATK Generic Function Service which is an ASUS file is 7 yrs old

This file athw8x.sys Atheros Wireless LAN Driver is 4 yrs old

As I said in the first post this is a clean install of windows 8 so as to get all the drivers back to their original state that worked.
DptfDevFan.sys Is updated to the latest
athw8x.sys was updated to the latest
I uninstalled AIcharger along with some other ASUS bloatware.
I uninstalled excsd.sys.

It still get a BSoD on boot which would usually self right so the second boot would work. I ended up going back to a restore point since auto repair offered that as the only solution.

dump from before restore

I have Ubuntu working on a separate partition with none of the problems of my windows suffers from.
