Hey Tom's Hardware friends!

I'm looking to create my first PC and it's a daunting task. I have a budget of ~$3000CAD and would like to build a fairly future-proof machine with 4K in mind. But to be truthful with you... right now my main game is WoW which I know is not a demanding game. With that in mind I would still like to get amazing FPS in WoW from this build.... (apparently some people have not been with some of their GTX 1080 builds).

So there are a few components that I really have my heart set on. Hopefully we can include these in our collaboration. I would really like to get one of the new GTX 1080 cards and I also want to get the Phanteks Evolv ATX case.

I would like my colour theme to be black and white and wouldn't mind splurging on a nice motherboard (which I know is not necessary... I'm crazy sorry).

So if anyone would care to give me some suggestions I would really appreciate it. I have no idea which processor is great for both WoW and future games. I'm also not in a rush, so is there a certain time of year that I should wait for to buy components? I work at Apple and know I can enroll in the Intel Retail Edge program.

Thanks for your time!

While 4k is nice, you may want to consider 1440p, @144hz, instead. From a performance standpoint, it is easier to work with, and still looks better than 1080p.
