AMD released with very limited stock. This time they had stock at launch so they couldn't be accused of a paper launch. Be thankful this isn't like the 290(X) launch, because once there was stock, all the bitcoin miners snapped them up which drove the price up for almost 6 months.

They are quite popular (though the release of the GTX1060 may have driven down their popularity), I would expect them to come in and out of stock for the next month or so. It will take at least that long for them to match demand. I think stock should level out once there are custom cards in the channel.
