i have a high end processor 6700k is it worth buying a gtx 970 now or gtx 1080

my pc compnents
CPU : i7 6700k
mobo: asus maximus viii hero
ram :g skill ripjaws 4 series 2400mhz
smps : 500watts hunt key
monitor :samsung 24 inch
is it worth buying a gtx 970 now or going for a gtx 1080
and is the smps ok with it if i add the mentioned above gfx ?

I've heard that Huntkey PSU's are low quality units and don't provide the listed power. Before you get a new card you should get a better PSU like a Seasonic first so you don't end up damaging your other components.

Also if your monitor is only 1080P then just get the 1070 as its more then powerful enough for that resolution, you could even go with a 1060.

your psu is too low for an upgrade to a gtx 1080 and if it is 1080p monitor you could even get a gtx 1070 or 60 like was said already, upgrade psu first then your graphics card.

If not then try to get a PSU from the PSU Tier list, Tier 1 or 2 being the best but you can go to Tier 3 if that's whats available and if so get something with at least 550W. Tier 1 or 2 would be fine at 500W.

For EVGA you want the B2,G2,GS,P2,PS or T2 models as the other ones are low quality.
