Hello

No Man's Sky is about to come out,and Im wondering will I'll be able to play it with my AMD card Radeon HD 7850 2GB ? Or the GTX 480 is much stronger? I also saw for AMD is required Radeon 7870 on NO MANS SKY minimum requirements, also 8GB Ram and Intel Core i3

My other specs are Ram 8GB and Amd athlon II x4 641 Quad 2.8GHz

Is my card good enough or even better/worse then GTX 480 or mayve radeon 7870 ? helpp

GTX 480 :)
Higher performance with better driver compatibility.
Also, the HD 7850 isn't even enough for the game, while the 480 can run it easily Medium to High settings.

PS. I'm also waiting for No Man's Sky

Game Debate shows both the 7850 and 7950 about 50% below recommended GPU power for No Mans Sky. You should be able to play at reduced settings. Don't upgrade anything until you try playing the game first.

The RX 480 is about 150% faster than the 7850 and would easily play No Mans Sky 1080P at max settings but may be too much card for your system.

2015 card list? Nvidia and AMD have new cards since last year.

I think you're talking about the RX 480 the OP said GTX 480, big difference. The gtx 480 is about on par with a 7870 both are not ideal for no mans sky.

Ok well still you said the 7850 is not enough for this game, if a gtx 480 will run it a 7850 will as well they put out very similar performance. The min amd gpu is the 6970. And the gtx 480 will not "easily run it" that is the minimum gpu required if it does run it at medium it will likly be around 30fps. System requirements for games are almost never dead accurate, in fact a lot of times they are way off.

GTX 480 = HD 7850 on the hierarchy.

GTX 480 is the minimum, & it has less VRAM than the 7850. So theoretically they should be fine.

This, however, is why you don't want to be looking at the GTX 480 (or the equivalent HD 7850). Although it might be OK for No Man's Sky, it suffers in performance compared to newer cards -- even in games from 3 years ago like BF4, let alone newer ones like Witcher 3.

Now, whether you go for a GTX 1060/RX 480, or "settle" for a GTX 960/RX 470 or even GTX 950/RX 460, is going to depend on a) how much you were going to pay for the GTX 480/HD 7850, & b) how much you can afford if you buy something else instead.

Minimum vs Recommended requirements are a 21% difference in games...
Ahh, who cares.
We will see what the developers did :p

I own and still use the 7870 (myst) and had a gtx 480 before that. Trust me these 2 cards don't compare. the 7870 runs way better than the 480 and I haven't changed my config. I gained around 20-25 fps when I installed the 7870. Though I am also looking to upgrade and would not recommend a 7870 over anything new.

If you need a new card id say go with the cheapest you possibly can and look to start upgrading your mobo/proc/ram. In turn even a rx480 /1060 will run your games better with a quicker fsb. My 2 cents.
