Noctua has introduced some "s" suffix coolers which are offset to eliminate conflicts with ram and graphics cards in the first slot.
Really, there is no processor that fits a Z170 motherboard that requires a NH-D15.
A NH-U12s will cool anything well.
If you can, I would exchange the D15 for a smaller unit.

Thanks for the link, it lead me to this http://noctua.at/en/nh-d15/comp(much better dimensions shown). It seems that nh-d15 is compatible with my mainboard.
I will research the cooler that you recommended, however I think my 6600k is going to need quite a lot of voltage to stabilize 4.5ghz. IDK maybe my board is not up to the task, wasn't planning to overclock when I bought it. The EVO 212 that I have now inst cutting it, with load temps of around 80c with a ambient room temp of 22c.
