Hi, I wonder if someone could help me please. I have Backed up a hard drive (Sector by Sector) and when I use that drive image as a recovery, It is saved as a .tib file on a 2TB external USB Hard Drive and the software used was Acronis 2014. - Now when putting the image onto a Western Digital SATA, It says at login that there is a Duplicated Drive on the network, sounds like SID issue. Can someone tell me how I get around this. Its the first time I have done this. Would it be new SID using a hirens boot disk ? Cheers

Solution
Sysprep is a MS utility, it works on XP. http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/windows-and-office/how-do-i-use-sysprep-to-create-a-windows-xp-image/

Thanks for your reply and your help. Would SysPrep not clear out the drivers etc? If that was the case I would not be able to do that because it is a production machine. a Single Point of Failure basically. I just want one cloned hard drive and one electronic copy incase of disaster recovery. Could I do this running a hirens boot? Reset the SID? - New to this and trying to understand it. (Looking for basically just plug in the new drives and login) Thanks

It won't do anything with the drivers if you use the default options, but it will make you put in the Windows key in and also setup the user. If you are cloning the same machine you should not have to run sysprep, that is for using the same image on different computers. Don't know where you'd get a message about a duplicated drive when you logon, must be from a security program. Are you sure it's duplicate drive and not duplicate IP?

Thanks for your help. Its a back up of an XP machine, done by Acronis, and when recovered and put onto a SATA drive then conected up and powered on, this is the message I am getting about the duplicate drive, the backup resides on a 2TB external USB drive along with many others. Kind of weird, but its the same PC, the owner was just worried that there was no way of recovery, so the image was cloned onto another HD and a Backup was also taken just incase the Hard Drive was ever dropped or damaged (The Clone) P.S. is Sysprep an XP feature also? I can see myself buying an XP box just for testing on. Thanks
